PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect allegedly stole the car with the intention to travel to Ghana with his family.

It was also learnt that the incident occurred on January 16 at about 1:00pm.

A police source told our correspondent that “a group of detectives moved quickly after receiving the information and during the inquiry, the car was found in Ilukogun village, which borders Ogun State and Lagos.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, stating that after being apprehended, the suspect admitted to stealing the car and that investigations were currently going on in order to apprehend other members of his group.

He said, “The suspect was arrested and he confessed to having stolen the vehicle. Investigation is still in progress for possible arrest of other members of his gang.”

Earlier, PUNCH Metro had reported that a 54-year-old mechanic, Abisodun Ilori, was arrested for car theft in the Isheri-Oshun area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that Ilori’s arrest followed the complaints by a resident in the area about his missing Nissan Xterra.

It was gathered that the owner of the vehicle had gone to church on Sunday when Ilori visited his house, collected the keys to the vehicle from his daughter and drove it away to an unknown destination.
