PRESS STATEMENT.

PDP DEFECTORS TO APC: ESE-ODO APC LEADERSHIP IS SHAMELESS.

The propaganda and media hype about some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defecting to the All Progressives Party (APC) in Ese-Odo Local Government Area has been described as misleading, untrue and shameless.

In a meeting of the five Electoral Wards of Arogbo, held on Tuesday, 30th August, 2022 at Igbe Ibile C & S Church, Arogbo, the PDP leaders dismissed the stories making the round about gale of defections hitting the party as concoctions and embellishments from the APC to make themselves happy ahead of the imminent disgrace and woeful failure that stare them in the face at the 2023 general elections.

The meeting attended by State Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, Ese-Odo LG Party Chairman, Local Government Executive Committee Members from Arogbo, all the five Ward Chairmen, Former Minority leader of old Ondo State House of Assembly, High Chief S.E Yayu, former Leaders of Legislative Council, Hon. Felix George, Hon. David Earnest, Former OSOPADEC Commissioner, Chief Israel Emokenighan, Former Member Board of OSRC, B.O Ominidougha and other prominent leaders assured party members that, the party was intact and will deliver as always in the Presidential, National Assembly and House of Assembly Elections for the PDP.

Ordinarily it would have been unnecessary to join issues with the lying APC leadership if not for the need to put the record straight.

The architect and mastermind of this syndicated tissue of untruths is one individual whose source of financial breakthrough was the PDP. Only very few persons merely joined him for the crumbs from his table and trying to play up the ethnic card in the 2023 elections. They are all beneficiaries and creations of previous PDP administrations. They are like the proverbial okro that can never grow taller than the one who planted it.

In the last seven and a half years, the APC whether at the federal or state or even local government level cannot boast of a single project in the Arogbo axis of the local government. What will be the motivation for any right thinking person to join such a party? Can such a party be compared with the PDP that delivered concrete jetties, township roads, foot bridges, health centres, school buildings, market stalls that stand proudly in all nooks and crannies in Arogbo kingdom. If the APC leadership has any sense of shame, they should have covered their faces instead of parading individuals on the payroll of governments as leaders of PDP joining their failed party.

The PDP in Ese-Odo LG draws its strength from life impacting programs and projects which the ordinary people can relate with. The frustration and poverty that is the order of the day is very alien to our people. And they are ready to reverse this ugly trend and return to the life of abundance they were used to under the PDP. No amount of intimidation and blackmail can change the determination of the people.

Looking at the footages of the kwashiorkor infested brooms brandished by the said defectors, one does not need a soothsayer to know that they were procured for the assignment. Needless to say that, they have been hoodwinked to brandish the same brooms that will sweep them into political oblivion. Their portion will be like the river that forgets its source, which is sure to dry up in the fullness of time.

The PDP in Ese-Odo is not perturbed by the propaganda and grandstanding of these shameless characters as we are sure to coast home to victory come 2023.

Goodluck Ikuenogbon.
Assistant Local Government Publicity Secretary.
