The Olowo of Owo kingdom, and Paramount Ruler of Owo Land, Oba ( Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye lll, has sent a condolence message to the Government and people of Oyo State, particularly Oyo kingdom over the passage of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi lll.

Oba Ogunoye, in a statement signed and released by his Special Assistant Media , SAM ADEWALE, said he received the news with a deep sense of sadness, saying, the nation and indeed the Yoruba Race have lost a rare personality who was passionate about the development and progress of his people and the nation at large.

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ogunoye pointed out that, it was just three weeks ago that, he received a well crafted letter from the late Alaafin, which showed his deep understanding and passion for Nigeria.

In the letter, the late Oba Adeyemi wrote copiously on Nigeria from the time of the British colonialism, Amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates in 1914 to Independence in 1960, which brought about democratic self governance, with clear benefits in true federalism, Military Rule, to the present political and economic development of Nigeria with its attendant problems.

Clearly, he was an advocate of true federalism,as the best governance structure that would engender the desired political and economic development of Nigeria, which he had published in Newspapers over the years, as stated in the letter under reference.

Oba Ogunoye concluded that, the late Alaafin was noted to have preserved and promoted the Yoruba culture and traditions, as well as the well-being of humanity during his lifetime.

The monarch prayed for the soul of the departed Oba Lamidi Adeyemi lll, as well as for the family, for the fortitude to bear this great loss.
