Just In : Obasanjo Reveals The Only Nigerian Christian Leader That Will Make Heaven
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed his thoughts on which Nigerian Christian leader he believes will attain salvation. Obasanjo stated that he is confident the only Nigerian Christian leader destined for heaven is the late Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Mbang, CON.
This declaration was made by Obasanjo during the ongoing funeral service of the late Prelate in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. He held the position of Special Guest of Honour at the event.
Obasanjo commended the late Prelate for his straightforwardness and lack of emotionalism. He recounted seeking advice from Dr. Mbang after his release from prison, especially when pressure mounted for him to assume the presidency of Nigeria. The late Prelate’s counsel proved invaluable to Obasanjo during that time.
The former President emphasized that he frequently sought the late Prelate Emeritus’ guidance due to his sincerity. Obasanjo shared an anecdote about his visits to Akwa Ibom State under the guise of meeting with Governor Emmanuel Udom, when in fact he was seeking counsel from Dr. Mbang on pressing matters.
Dr. Sunday Mbang, who held positions including President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the first black President of the World Methodist Council, passed away at the age of 86 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on May 16, 2023
