A 19-year-old student named Benjamin Nnamani Daberechi has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja.

The arrest was made when Daberechi attempted to export 7.2 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in crayfish to Europe, where he was planning to pursue his undergraduate studies.

The teenager was apprehended on Wednesday, July 12th, during the process of clearing passengers for the Turkish Airlines flight TK 0624.

During questioning by the NDLEA operatives, Daberechi claimed to be a student traveling to Cyprus for his studies. However, upon a thorough search of his luggage, 7.2kg of a whitish substance was discovered carefully concealed inside a sack of crayfish.

According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, a field test confirmed that the substance was indeed methamphetamine
