On Monday, the National Assembly election tribunal removed Peter Gyendeng of the PDP from his position as a Member representing the Barkin-Ladi/Riyom federal constituency. Instead, Fom Chollom of the LP was declared the winner of the election.
Fom contested the victory of Gyendeng, a member of the PDP, which was announced by INEC. Fom’s challenge was based on the argument that Gyendeng’s nomination as the PDP candidate was invalid due to the party lacking a legitimate structure at the time of the nomination.
