Just In : House, properties burnt as gunmen attack residence of PDP candidate
Tension has gripped residents of Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State after armed hoodlums razed the country home of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for Saturday’s House of Assembly election, Ifeanyi Ozoemena.
According to The Nation, the heavily armed hoodlums, numbering over 10, threw explosives at the houses belonging to the candidate and his father which caught fire immediately.
Ozoemena, who confirmed the incident to reporters, said his house and that of his father were completely razed by the hoodlums.
”My house and that of my father at Umuokparaoha village in Umulolo community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State were razed on Tuesday.
”They stormed the place around 2pm, set the houses on fire and ice supervised the burning. The two houses and the properties got destroyed in the attack. They operated unchallenged. I am distraught. This is unfortunate, ” he lamented.
