During Thursday’s plenary, Deputy Speaker Hon Benjamin Kalu read Nnabuife’s defection letter on the floor of the house.

She represents the Orumba North/South Federal Constituency of Anambra State.

Nnabuife cited her “exclusion from party activities” as the reason for her departure. She said her decision to join APGA followed “extensive consultation” with her constituents.

Reacting to the move, Kalu jokingly remarked that he would have invited Nnabuife for a handshake had she defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Her defection is part of a growing trend of party switches in the house in recent weeks.
