Just In : Heavy protest rocks northern Nigeria over Tinubu’s, ECOWAS, planned invasion of Niger
Hundred of protesters on Saturday took to the streets in Kano to express their opposition to the proposed use of military intervention in Niger Republic following the coup d’etat that sacked former President Mohamed Bazoum.
The protesters hit the streets of Kano State with France flag saying “NO TO WAR” illegitimate president Bola Tinubu and ECOWAS.
The protest signifies the mounting concerns among citizens who fear the negative impact of the proposed planned invasion of Niger Republic by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) which is chaired by the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu Protest in Kano Recall that NEWS WEEK NIGERIA had earlier reported that the ECOWAS has ordered its standby force to restore constitutional order in NIger Republic.
The President of ECOWAS, Omar Alieu Touray, made the declaration while reading the resolution of ECOWAS on the Niger coup at the ECOWAS Extraordinary meeting in Abuja today Thursday.
The resolution partly reads, “Direct the committe of the Chief of Defence Staff to activate the ECOWAS stand-by force with all its elements immediately
“Order the deployment of the ECOWAS stand-by force to restore constitutional order in the Republic of Niger. Underscore its continued commitment to the restoration of constitutional order through peaceful means.
