Just In ; Gunmen invade Police Station, kidnap DCO
Gunmen have invaded the Mbala Police Station, Isuochi in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State
They were said to have whisked away the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), simply identified as Dickson, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
The invasion of the police station was said to have been carried out in broad daylight.
The DCO, an indigene of Enugu State, according to reports, has few years to retire from service.
It was gathered that heavily-armed gunmen took the police officers unawares.
The incident was said to have caused fears among police officers operating within the Umunneochi and the Isuikwuato local government areas.
It was gathered that the DCO has a health challenge, which is raising fears among his colleagues over his safety in the hands of his abductors.
Abia State Police Command has since deployed its anti-kidnapping team for the rescue of the victim and arrest of his abductors.
Although family members of the kidnapped DCO were said to have been contacted and reportedly paid an undisclosed amount of ransom to his abductors, he has not been released.
