Just In : Dangote Cement Makes Clarification On Price Of Product
Dangote Cement Plc’s management has clarified the prices of cement bags produced in its Nigerian factories as of August 28, 2023. The company stated that a bag of cement costs N4,010 in Okpella and N4,640 in Ibese, Objana, and Gboko.
Addressing misconceptions about cement prices, the company emphasized that the cost could range from N5,000 to N5,300 per bag, inclusive of transportation expenses and delivery location.
This clarification was prompted by false information suggesting that Dangote Cement sells its products in Nigeria at significantly higher rates compared to other countries, particularly the Republic of Benin and neighboring nations.
Dangote Cement’s Group Managing Director, Mr. Arvind Pathak, stressed the distinction between the company’s ex-factory prices and the prices set by retailers in the market.
“Our findings in Cotonou, the commercial hub of the Republic of Benin, reveal that cement is priced between CFA 3,495 and CFA 4,500. Considering the current exchange rate of CFA 1: NGN 1.43, this translates to approximately N4,997 to N6,435 per bag,” he explained.
Pathak underlined Dangote Cement’s commitment to providing quality cement at the best possible prices, despite the prevailing inflationary conditions. He emphasized their dedication to innovation in delivering superior products to customers across Africa, along with exceptional customer service.
Dangote Cement’s overarching goal is to create an inclusive and sustainable business that benefits all stakeholders within the value chain.
