Just In : Customs Comptroller reportedly slumps, dies

Anthony Ayalogu the Comptroller in charge of the Trade Facilitation Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service has died after a brief sickness.

Ayalogu was said to have taken ill at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on Monday.

Afterwards, he lost consciousness and was rushed to the Nigerian Airforce Hospital, Kano where he was pronounced dead at 8:20pm yesterday.

According to AA Maiwada of the NCS Public Relations Unit, in a statement on Tuesday, said, “He was in transit on an official assignment when he suddenly took ill upon arrival at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport and lost consciousness. All efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful as he was pronounced dead at 2020 hours on Monday 17th October 2022 at 465 Nigerian Airforce Hospital Kano. He was aged 57.”

A native of Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Ayalogu had a Bachelor’s Degree in Botany from the University of Port Harcourt.

He joined the NCS on September 24, 1991 as Cadet Assistant Superintendent.

However, the Comptroller General of Customs Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), commiserated with the family and friends of the Late Ayalogu.

“We pray God grants the Ayalogu family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
