Just In : Cleric found dead inside river after strange outing
A 29-year-old Islamic cleric, Lasisi Qozeem, has been found dead in a river in Osun State after he followed his friend to an undisclosed outing.
It was gathered that the cleric’s friend, simply identified as Ibrahim, visited Qozeem at his residence in Ifon, Orolu Local Government Area, on Friday and pleaded with him that they should go on an outing together, which he agreed.
A source in the community, who confided to correspondent, said Qozeem’s parents visited one of the community leaders after he did not return home that day to report to him.
“Family members joined by some community members searched for him but only discovered his mobile phone and his luggage inside his room. “Qozeem planned to travel before his friend came around to take him out. I was informed that the parent and community leaders called the friend of Qozeem and he told them that he is in Edo State.”
“However, on Saturday they discovered blood with his underwear by the river bank of Owala. We also saw his corpse floating inside the river. The corpse has been deposited in the morgue.”
The spokesperson for Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident. She disclosed that efforts had been put in place to arrest the fleeing friend.
