The Nigerian Army has disassociated itself from the security group organized by former Niger Delta militant leader, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo

The Army clarified that it had no collaboration with Dokubo’s private military company.

Recently, Dokubo established a private military company that was reportedly contracted by the government to cooperate with the military in certain states.

However, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, indicated that the accuracy of Dokubo’s assertion could only be confirmed by the appropriate agency responsible for licensing such organizations.

In an official statement, Nwachukwu clarified that the Nigerian Army had never engaged in any operations alongside Dokubo’s private company.

According to Nwachukwu, “Based on that interview, Dokubo claims ownership of a private military company that was engaged by the Nigerian government. Nonetheless, it is necessary to clarify that the Nigerian Army is not involved in any form of partnership or collaborative arrangement with the ex-militant or any private security entity he alleges ownership of.”

Nwachukwu added, “It is important to stress that despite his claims, the Nigerian Army has never executed any operation jointly or in coordination with Asari or the organization he represents, in any of the mentioned areas or in any Asari Dokubo’s operational zone.”
