Just In : APC Warns Wike Against Involvement in PDP Affairs, Threatens Legal Action
An All Progressives Congress (APC) group, the North Central APC Forum has issued a stern warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, cautioning him against getting entangled in the internal affairs of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The APC forum has also threatened to pursue legal action if Wike disregards this warning. Advertisements Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, Chairman of the North Central APC Forum, voiced the party’s concerns during a statement made on Tuesday in Jos.
Zazzaga emphasized that, as an officer of the APC Federal Government, Nyesom Wike should refrain from extensive involvement in PDP matters.
The APC group believes that it is not in the best interest of the party for Wike to actively engage in PDP affairs. Advertisements Zazzaga stated, “We are warning Wike against getting himself involved in the PDP crisis, talk more of making any moves to resolve it since the party is still seeing him as their member.”
He further expressed the APC’s discomfort with Wike’s affiliation with the PDP, as Wike holds an appointive position within the APC government. Zazzaga added, “So, Wike’s loyalty should be seen and felt by the APC, as well as his friendship, rather than with the opposition PDP.”
In addition to their warning, the group also indicated that they would continue to voice their concerns over Wike’s involvement with the PDP.
This concern was intensified after a trending video showed Nyesom Wike at home with a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who is a prominent member of the PDP.
Such interactions have raised questions within the APC about Wike’s loyalty and alignment with the party’s goals, especially considering that there are still PDP leaders who have not shown support for the APC administration and the leadership of President Bola Tinubu following his victory at the February Presidential polls.
The North Central APC Forum’s message underscores the delicate balance of party loyalty for politicians in Nigeria, as they navigate relationships and affiliations within the political landscape.
It remains to be seen how Nyesom Wike will respond to these warnings and whether legal action will be pursued should he continue to engage with the PDP in ways that raise concerns within the APC.
