…..Akinbohun’s family seeks Justice for Son’s gruesome murder.

Eight people including two 63yr-old men and a septuagenarian have been dragged before the Ondo State Magistrate Court sitting in Akure for allegedly killing one Paul Akinbohun and causing a breach of peace over land matter.
The defendants docked before the court today Tuesday are; Ajumobi Kolawole, 48; Yusuf Aliu, 22; Adegbemiro Adeniyiju, 63; Ambrose Olajide, 32; Patrick Ayodeji, 50; Benard Nworie, 73; were charged with conspiracy, murder, attempt to murder, malicious damage, while Abiodun Adelegan, 63, and a woman Omowumi Adepetu, 38 were charged for a breach of public peace.
It was gathered that the state High Court had ordered that the land in dispute at Iworiodo via Oke-Opa in Bolorunduro of Ondo East Local Government Area of the state belong to Akinbohun’s family, the development which made the opposing family to allegedly send the suspects to attack family members of those who got favourable court’s judgment.
Akinbohun’s family was represented in court by Barr. Oluwafemi A who urged the court to remand the suspect in prisons because of the gravity of the offence allegedly committed.
The father of the deceased, Otunba Akinbohun had appealed to the Inspector General of Police, the State Commissioner of Police and the Ondo State Government to ensure that he gets justice over gruesome murder of his son by the suspect while others still at large should be arrested.
The police prosecutor, Simon Wada had told the court that the defendants committed the offence on October 14 at about 10:am at Osun Community via Bolunduro in the Ondo State Magisterial District.
Wada explained that Ajumobi and the other five defendants conspired to kill one 59-year-old man, Paul Akinbohun by beating him when the sticks and fists blow on his forehead and body
The prosecutor also alleged that the defendants attempted to kill the deceased relatives, Clement Akinbohun, Olamide Thompson, and Ojo Akinbohun by beating them with sticks and inflicting various injuries on their heads, hands, and backs.
The defendants were also said to have willfully destroyed the following items: two Highlander tyres with side mirrors and one headlight, total valued at N200,000 belonging to one Adenusi Adeleye.
Wada informed the court that the duo, Awolegan, and Adeputu conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace in the said community and also assembled to watch the beating of Akinbohun, which led to his death
The offenses according to the charge contravened Sections 324, 319, 320, 451 and 81 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The prosecutor urged the court through a 15-paragraph application to remand the defendants in the Olokuta Correctional Centre (formerly Prisons) pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
The defence counsel, Yinka Muyiwa prayed the court not to grant the application but to use its discretion in granting temporary liberty to the defendants
The Trial Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni ordered the remand of the defendant in police custody and adjourned the case till November 16, 2023 for ruling on prisons remand application.
