Just In : 23-year-old Man alleged hack his Mother to death with a Machete
A 23-year-old man, Akaninyene Sunday Isaac, allegedly killed his 55-year-old mother following disagreements over money.
A family source told Tribune correspondent that trouble started when the young man requested money from his mother, who had always given him money anytime he asked. But on the fateful day, the mother told Akaninyene that there was no money with her.
This reportedly infuriated the young man who was supposed to take care of his mother, prompting him to pick up a machete and attack the mother, who passed out before she could receive medical attention.
The family member, who described the incident as unfortunate, disclosed that the entire family is currently in a state of mourning, expressing sorrow for the deceased, whom they described as a peaceful woman.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Odiko McDon, who confirmed the story, disclosed that the suspect, is currently in custody at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary.
According to him, investigations are ongoing to uncover the immediate and remote causes of this dastardly act.
