Jimoh Ibrahim Like Sanusi Lamido, Emir of Kano State – Olasumbo Faseesin Esq
I recently received the news of a mentor’s return to his throne of forebears. The Fourteenth Emir of Kano State who recently suffered embarrassment dethroned, Diminished and obviously Banished will triumphantly return to the seat of honour, power and influence. At the younger of 15, I took particular interests in studying the grit of philosophers. I had the most passionate choice of Socrates among other schools. Obviously, the man who lead me onto thought schools had me swimming in confusion of competence.
There was no time I suffered complex to Challenge dogma. He was my favourite teacher, and we loved his precious testaments of teaching. He had many times emphasised the need to avoid following bandwagon. While I think of Law, my eyes were more on Philosophy. I wanted to also pattern a life after Plato or, Aristotle. I knew they belong to different classes of ideas. While the former an idealist, the later, apparently was a realist culminating in what causes my confusion. Should I remain with Plato and perhaps deny Aristotle? Like barrage of philosophical questions and I couldn’t provide answers….
I must decide a way of life including a suitable role model and a mentor of immense responsibility in the class of Sanusi Lamido.
Keenly, I studied Sanusi’s intervention and injection of ideas during Nigeria’s Economic slope. I saw the courage in policies, and manifest ideas Lamido introduced. At the time, I was already in the Banking Sector and I could really tell the quantum of re investment or, divestment, and the philosophical tendencies of CBN under the leadership of Lamido.
Except a man with balls, our Economic and infrastructural deficit was on a monumental increase in fail until the novel ideas to strengthen Bank Policies and redeem Borrowing from CBN as the last resort. He maintained confidence and had the economic business of Nigeria bleeding but bouncing gradually. He revamped the system and introduced enviable monetary policies . He stood bold, tall & impressive during interviews, compelling the National Assembly to dignify his intellectual capacity and competence with the office of Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria.
Consequently, Sanusi Lamido became impressively fearless and diligent in service such that the entire country knew of a new sheriff was in town. Prominently, Sanusi Lamido whose background stems from the King’s College had brilliant disposition of economic development in ideas. He reigned as CBN Governor like no one ever did. He was competent, capable, unshaken and obviously outspoken. Of royalty, Sanusi Lamido was no doubt a trailblazer in the class and realm of stewardship until the unthinkable decision by a misfit to dethrone and attempt to diminish the very great Lamido who many times had been a thorn to the flesh of political class who admirably appreciate his compartments, but decline to appraise him rightfully.
Today, the former Emir of Kano State who was dethrone is back to reclaim and repossess what originally belongs to him under the Emirate Law & customs of Kano State. For whatever, a man must live for something or, die for nothing are words of Maxwell.
In his firm postulation, Plato the idealist had a specific reference for Philosopher Kings. He is apparently correct to have classed men into three categories if the society must progress. He spoke eloquently about the class of intellectuals who in turn are Kings to our society.
Indeed, Sanusi Lamido a formerly deposed Emir is today enthroned and entrusted with power, office & influence to speak and be untiring in spitting truth to power. Of course, his message, like one clearly deposed to affidavit is to remain courageous in the face of gruesome & grievous tempest and fail. They are mere temptation that will fizzle out with time.
Finally, by implication, Lamido has encouraged few men of steel to remain consistent, undaunted, and resolute in their message of truth. No matter how fast lies run ,the truth will catch up someday. It might seem impossible, delayed but certainly undeniable.
Let the struggle, fight and quest be for tomorrow and a healthy society, regardless of humiliation and victimisation. Keep faith in honesty to retain fate. For without faith there’s unlikely outcome of fate.
Let @Barr Jimoh Ibrahim remain resolute. Times are changing and the truth will be nipped in the board.
