Ouattara made this declaration on Thursday during an extraordinary summit held by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Abuja.

“It’s important to clarify that ECOWAS is not endorsing this situation. This isn’t about Nigeria versus Niger at all,” he affirmed.

“The resolution we’ve collectively reached today—hopefully for immediate implementation—is an ECOWAS decision.”

The Ivorian president highlighted that all the leaders of the West African regional alliance have made genuine attempts to engage in dialogue with the coup leaders in Niger.
