Briefly let us know you better by reintroducing yourself to our audience whom you are?
I am Princess Dupe Adetuwo, a multiple awards winning veteran dramatist, Nollywood Act cum Producer, am a noble Princess of Ikaleland by birth in fact a direct descendant of His Royal Majesty ,Oba Adetuwo,the Abodi of Ikalelend and currently serving as a Council Member of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko,AAUA, Ondo State.
Before you became famous as an actress can you tell us how your background or royal tutelage really impacted positively on your life as a celebrity?
With total humility, I won’t use the word famous or celebrity to describe myself in all honesty. I grew up in a polygamous home and we were unified by the strong will of my father, the late Abodi of Ikaleland in his days. My father was a charismatic dancer, he was tall and elegant. And he is a consummate Asiko Singer and I grew to love the performing arts by mirroring him especially when he dances the Biripo dances.
Tell us your dramatic rise and how you were able to sustain your integrity under the kleighlight as a Nollywood Frontline Star.
In everything I do, I maintain my humility, royalty, integrity and abide by the rules of being modest in my outlook and deals with all and sundry. That part of me was no difference when it came to the glitter and glamour of the entertainment industry, so, sustaining my core values was easy-peasy.
What prompted or influence your shifting of attention and passion from acting on stage to politics?
I have a bit of activism in me and I am channeling that aspect of me into good politicking to be heard and to serve my people in attaining the dividends of democracy. I am still much into acting as I just returned from a film location.
Politics and my acting are still running simultaneously.
Can you recount those achievements or attainment that makes you fulfilled in politics?
I am not an advocate of reeling out my achievements and I am still on the path of self actualization and fulfillment. I am certain that in time, my works and services would resonate in the annals of Ondo South Political landscape. I am currently serving as a Council Member of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko since 2018 and I was reappointed in 2023 till date.And why I can not apportion marks to myself but I am fulfilled for putting smiles in countless of people in my Constituency through my empowerment programs and my other humanitarian considerations. So I can say I am fulfilled in my services to Gods works and humanity.
Are you nursing any political ambition currently or in the nearest future?
Like I always say am a professional in politics and am drawn into politics by my passion for humanity. I have always preferred to work behind the scene in politics. That might change in the nearest future but for now, the only option is still working behind the scene for me.
You have served the people in various capacities as appointee can you explain your roles and achievements?
Yes I have served in various capacities as Committee members and as an Appointee but the major reference points is serving as Special Assistant (SA) to the Governor on Culture and Tourism and as a Council Member of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, AAUA to mention few.
In conclusion with your experience can you say politicians are well rewarded and remunerated?
Yes, politics is often regarded as a dirty game or an act of looking for trouble but to me it is an opportunity to serve humanity and since I have not gone into politics for my selfish interest but for the general well being of the masses. I will say I am not after reward but service to the nation. Though many are disgruntled over what we call poor remunerations and rewards in political system where you see those who were not on sight during political struggles and campaigns getting very juicy contracts or appointment.
Will you also concur that political appointees are under undue pressure and unfairly treated by the people.
By my own personal experiences as a politician and as an appointee I can say yes due to extreme poverty and extravagant lifestyle of some political office holders including the elected ones gives the followers that impetus to put serious pressures because of the impression created around themselves as being able to cater for all their frivolous needs. Though am an advocate of good governance, equity and justice and I have always champion equitable distributions of commonwealth and dividends of democracy. Public office holders must not live frivolous or extravagant life and public offices must be more of derivative and accountable to the people on whose mandate they rode to office than for the undue display of the ostentation of those offices.
