It was peaceful – opposition Candidate accepts outcome of Ondo election results, congratulates Aiyedatiwa
Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Prince Adeyemi Nejo, has accepted the outcome of last Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo state.
Prince Nejo, who came a distant third at the poll, said he reviewed the conduct of the election and accepted that it was peaceful.
Nejo congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for emerging victorious at the polls.
He said the election was not free of certain imperfections and pockets of challenges characteristic of any electoral process anywhere in the world.
Prince Nejo said the election was conducted in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
He said: “Furthermore, and considering the towering imperative to prioritise the interest of the people of Ondo State over personal individual interest or ambition, I have in consultation with my supporters and party leaders and faithful, resolved to felicitate with the winner of the election, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to wish him well and share in the joy of his victory.
“While we continue, as a candidate and as a party, to play our role as a viable opposition by holding the State Government under the leadership of Gov. Aiyedatiwa accountable for policies and actions taken in government, we wish him resounding success in office as he continues to govern the State till February 2025 when he shall take the oath of office to preside over the affairs of the State for another four years.”
Also, the lawmaker representing Akoko South/East and South/West Federal Constituency, Asiwaju Adegboyega Adefarati, called on the people to put politics aside and support Governor Aiyedatiwa
Hon Adefarati, who congratulated Aiyedatiwa on his electoral victory, hailed the people for reposing their trust in the Governor’s leadership to steer the state towards greater prosperity for another four years.
Adefarati said the election was an affirmation of the Governor’s unwavering commitment to the development and well-being of the people.
He said: “Your Excellency, your re-election is a clear demonstration of the confidence Ondo State citizens have in your ability to deliver. It reflects their satisfaction with the progress recorded under your administration and their hope for even greater accomplishments in the years ahead.
“I assure you of my continued partnership to foster growth and address the needs of the people across all sectors. The collaborative efforts between the state and federal governments to ensure that dividends of democracy trickle down to all in Ondo State.”
Adefarati who called on all stakeholders, irrespective of political affiliations, to rally around the Governor to ensure the success of his administration, said only united and collective efforts were pivotal to building a prosperous and inclusive Ondo State.
“Let us put politics aside and focus on advancing the interests of our state. Together, we can achieve the Ondo State of our dreams,” he added.
