According to local authorities, the horrific attack occurred at the city’s central bus station, prompting swift action from law enforcement, BBC reports.

The fallen officer, Sergeant Shira Chaya Suslik, 19, a dedicated member of Israel’s border police, has been named as the victim of this senseless violence.

Israel’s ambulance service said medics are treating ten people for injuries, some of whom suffered gunshot wounds.
They have been taken to the nearby Soroka Hospital.
Shortly after the attack, Israel’s Transport Minister Miri Regev called for the deportation of the families of “terrorists”.
She wrote on X, “I call for the families of the terrorists to be deported, the time has come for a deterrent punishment to prevent the attacks on Israeli territory.”
