INEC Urged To Reject Peter Obi, Alex Otti And Others as they Seeks Recognition To  Rebel and Overthrow Tinubu

Good afternoon gentlemen of the press. I must welcome everyone to this press conference and commend you also for the usual noble roles you are playing to keep Nigerians informed and enlightened about happenings in the country.

No doubt, we acknowledge your immense contribution in shaping the trajectory of events that foster continued peace, harmony, growth and development in our dear nation, Nigeria as well as deepening our democracy.

In the last couple of weeks and days, we have taken a closer examination of unfolding events in our dear party, Labour Party (LP).

But the kernel of this press conference this afternoon is to call attention to witting and unwitting actions which we consider a threat to our party chances in 2027.

During the recent meeting of the unconstitutional Caretaker Committee meeting in Abuja, we found the actions and utterances of some people to be less than civil.

Someone like Governor Alex Otti was threatening the party with doomsday and that it will definitely come to pass and the other Datti Ahmed was just behaving like a garage boy claiming President Tinubu administration is questionably constitutional at this stage.

We want to let Nigerians know that some of us are actually against anybody using our party as a rebellion group, they should not destroy our chances in 2027.

Labour Party wishes to express our disappointment with the leadership of INEC under Prof Mahmood Yakubu who on one hand handed over certificates of Return to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but now want to hand over LP to the same group of arsonists who still maintain that President Tinubu administration is Illegitimate

Chapter 6. Part 3. Section 223. Constitution And Rules Of Political Parties

1) The constitution and rules of a political party shall
(a) provide for the periodical election on a democratic basis of the principal officers and members of the executive committee or other governing body of the political party; and
(b) ensure that the members of the executive committee or other governing body of the political party reflect the federal character of Nigeria.

(2) For the purposes of this section

(a) the election of the officers or members of the executive committee of a political party shall be deemed to be periodical only if it is made at regular intervals not exceeding four years; and

(b) the members of the executive committee or other governing body of the political character of Nigeria only if the members thereof belong to different states not being less in number than two-thirds of all the states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja

Chapter 1. Part 1. Section 1. Supremacy Of Constitution

1) This Constitution is supreme and its provisions shall have binding force on the authorities and persons throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

(2) The Federal Republic of Nigeria shall not be governed, nor shall any persons or group of persons take control of the Government of Nigeria or any part thereof, except in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution.

(3) If any other law is inconsistent with the provisions of this Constitution, this Constitution shall prevail, and that other law shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be void.

Base on the above , We hereby call on INEC CHAIRMAN PROF MAHMOOD YAKUBU to reject this group of political rebels and must avoid his establishment unholy and unconstitutional alliance with those seeking to legitimize their mission of destabilizing Democracy with LP as a political party in other to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration

We unrepentantly affirmed our believes in the one indivisible Nigeria and all of them including Alex Otti, Peter Obi , Sen Umeh,Darlington Nwokocha, Hon Ogene, Sen Nenadi Usman must be reminded that we don’t want any of them to think that our party could be used as a tool for rebellion against democracy and constitutional administration

It is totally uncalled for. You have a Supreme Court judgment which you claimed favoured you and you are still condemning the same Supreme Court that affirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election by alluding to the fact the current administration is illegitimate and unconstitutional which itself is a treasonable offense

Must you be complaining about the 2023 presidential election now when another presidential election is coming in 2027 or be focused on how we are going to have the presidency in 2027?

‌ To us, this group of political rebels are engaging in distractions because with such type of statement, they should be arrested before it turned to another thing because once we miss the chance in 2027, the Presidency goes to the North in 2031 whether we like it or not ,the North will not allow power to continue in the South after 2027.

Does anybody think the North will say, we should spend 12 years?

‌So, Labour Party cannot be used as a tool for rebellion and they should not present us as a rebellious group to the Nigerian electorate .

We are not supposed to be threatening fire , brimstone, chaos , political violence and brigandage

Again, we want to alert Nigerians and the security agencies about the disturbing imminent chaos the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC under the leadership of Comrade Joe Ajaero wants to foist on the nation which the NLC is desperately trying to use our party, Labour Party to execute the odious agenda of removing president Bola Ahmed Tinubu through unconstitutional means

You will recall that in a press release dated April 8, 2025 and signed by the National President of Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, he directed the leadership of the NLC Political Commission and other concerned to once again violently repossess all offices of Labour Party nationwide.

Comrade Joe Ajaero also stated that Labour Party stakeholders would issue necessary directives to that effect against section 15 sub (1) (2) (3) of the trade union acts Cap T14 & T15 Laws of the Federation Of Nigeria 2004

This threat or move by the NLC President Joe Ajaero to take over the Labour Party Secretariat in all 36 States of Nigeria could lead to chaos, conducts likely to cause breach of peace, which ultimately will lead to breakdown of law and order

At this critical moment, we are asking; What exactly do we want in 2027? Do we just want to make noise or go to win elections? Those people issuing threats and doomsday are destroying our party chances .

They are just destroying the long works that we all has put into LP over the years

If Alex Otti, a Governor, is threatening the executives of the party in Abuja with doomsday which he swore will and must definitely come , does he want to burn down the Secretariat or assassinate them ? Even Datti Ahmed was not polite. What is their problem? Do they want to run for elections or they just want to make Labour Party a regional party like APGA and give the ruling party an opportunity to retain power?

If they turned the Secretariat into a war zone as they threatened, have they forgotten that the Federal Government may exercise power to shut it down citing security reasons as justification?

‌Our Stand is clear. Enough of threats and attacks on Supreme Court judgments. Enough of threats to takeover the party secretariat.

Enough of threats against the federal government of Nigeria

Enough of threats on Ending democracy and conducts likely to cause breach of peace

Lastly we wish to remind MR PETER OBI, GOVERNOR ALLEX OTTI, SEN NENADI USMAN, BABA DATTI AHMED, SEN VICTOR UMEH, HON OGENE, DARLINGTON NWOKOCHA, COM JOE AJAERO , all Senators and House of representatives members that attended the illegal meeting that Section 41 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act outlines several acts that constitute treasonable felonies:

(1) Removing the President or a Governor from office through non-constitutional means: This includes inciting violence or any other action to disrupt the orderly succession or removal of the President or Governor.

(2) Levying war against Nigeria to compel the President to change policies or intimidate the National Assembly: This involves using force to disrupt the government’s operations.

(3) Instigating foreign invasion: This includes encouraging foreigners to attack Nigeria or any of its territories.

(4) Expressing intentions through overt acts: This requires the person to not only form the intention to commit a treasonable felony, but also take concrete steps to carry out their plan.

Labour party wishes to remind them all that treasonable felonies are punishable by life imprisonment

The National Security Adviser (NSA) The Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the DG Department of State Services(DSS)security are hereby also advised to begin immediate profiling of all those that attended the meeting and persons involved in this treasonable acts .

We also however urges EFCC to open investigation in to the abandoned probe of N4.2billion against Senator NENADI USMAN as this is long over because someone on Bail should not preside over a meeting where a legitimate administration will be branded illegitimate

Labour Party should be allowed to remain focus for the onerous task of wining 2027 general elections and not to be distracted by those who appear on the surface to be working for the party but in reality planning rebellion and insurrections to overthrow constitutional Government

Enough is Enough !

Thank you for listening and expressed the confidence that you will give press conference a wide coverage and milage.

Signed

Dr Abayomi Arabambi (FBAU)
National Publicity Secretary
