In terms of accredited voters, INEC recorded 604,132, whereas IReV’s figure was 576,489, indicating a potential issue with the voter accreditation process.

An analysis of the September 2024 Edo State governorship election results has unveiled significant discrepancies between data reported by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and figures from the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

The findings were collated by CivicHive, Nigeria’s civictech nest.

According to CivicHive’s reports, INEC recorded 2,610,730 registered voters, while IReV reported 2,500,331.

In terms of accredited voters, INEC recorded 604,132, whereas IReV’s figure was 576,489, indicating a potential issue with the voter accreditation process.

Similarly, total valid votes showed a notable gap: INEC reported 570,690 valid votes, compared to IReV’s 542,143.

The breakdown of votes cast for the major parties further reveals inconsistencies.

For the All Progressives Congress (APC), INEC reported 291,667 votes, while IReV showed a lower total of 271,303.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) experienced a contrasting trend, with INEC stating 247,274 votes and IReV reporting 259,658. While the Labour Party (LP) had 22,763 votes, according to INEC, which dropped to 18,600 in the IReV results.

These revelations prompt serious questions about the integrity of the election process and the accuracy of reported figures.

The statement reads, “CivicHive collated and analysed the Governorship Election result in Edo State from the IREV platform and these are some of the anomalies and shocking things we uncovered.

“As at the time of this report, the total number of uploads on IREV is 4466 out of 4519, which is about 98.8% of the total results expected to be on the platform.

“Out of the 18 LGAs, only 5 LGAs have complete results fully uploaded. In our analysis, we uncovered widespread flagrant anomalies by INEC officials in the conduct of the election, we discovered a number of over-voting particularly in Etsako East and other LGAs.”
