TEXT
1 Kings 17:6 KJV.
“And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook”.

MESSAGE
☆☆☆ We are all familiar with this story about the prophet of God, Elijah.
☆☆☆ He prayed and stopped the heavens from releasing rain on the earth.
☆☆☆ There was drought and famine in the land. In modern day language, there was recession in the land.
☆☆☆ God now planted Elijah by the brook, Cherith, to be fed by the ravens and there was enough water for him to drink.

☆☆☆ While Elijah was experiencing abundance in his comfort zone, there was another woman and her son out there who were going through recession.
☆☆☆ Elijah was surviving the recession but this woman and her son were down to their last meal.
☆☆☆ God made sure he ran the brook out of water so that Elijah could move to Zarephath to help sustain the lives of the widow and her son.

☆☆☆ Beloved, from the language of the bible, it looked like Elijah was going to be helped by the widow 👇

“Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee” – 1 Kings 17:19.

☆☆☆ In reality however, it was the widow that was helped to survive the recession by the presence of prophet Elijah.
☆☆☆ When Jesus was referring to this incident, he said 👇

“But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land”;
[26] “But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow” – Luke 4:25-26.

☆☆☆ If God could prevent the ravens from eating the food meant for Elijah and the birds didn’t miss their way, you will agree with me that the same God could have prevented the brook from getting dried up.
☆☆☆ God deliberately dried up the brook to bring Elijah out to locate this widow.
☆☆☆ God forced Elijah out of his comfort zone to save lives out there.

☆☆☆ Beloved, make no boast about how blessed you are in your brook when no one is benefitting from your blessings.
☆☆☆ In this time of global recession, look out through your widow of comfort and help a needy neighbour to survive.
☆☆☆ Beloved, don’t wait for your brook to dry up before you make that move.
☆☆☆ If God is asking you to take a step to help somebody in need and you are delaying or even refuse to do so, he may cause your brook to dry up.
☆☆☆ If you are in position to assist solve a problem and you are so complaisant about it, you may be running your brook dry.
