Imo Poly Omuma hold it 42 Matriculation ceremony in grand style.
Over the weekend, the Imo State Polytechnic Omuma in Oru-East LGA of the state, has officially matriculated the 2022/2023 National Diploma, ND 1, and Higher National Diploma, HND1, students who successfully gained admission into the institution in grand style.
The ceremony which took place on Friday, 26th May, 2023, at their school Pavilion in Omuma started with commissioning of the newly built school auditorium by the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, who was represented by State Commissioner for Education, Prof.John-Cliff C. Nwadike.
In his welcome address, the Rector, Imo Polytechnic Omuma, Prof. Kanayo Stephen Chukwuka, expressed satisfaction for the institution’s 42nd matriculation ceremony for the 2022/2023 students of ND 1/ HND 1 academic session.
According to Rector Chukwuka, he gave all the glory to God for granting them the opportunity to witness this year’s matriculation ceremony while thanking the Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodimma, for giving him the rare privilege by appointing to serve the institution as one of the rector the school has ever produced .
The Rector, spoke on the occasion, said that it is notably that in the last two years the operational trajectory of the great institution experienced a positive change via the relocation of the main campus from Umuagwo in Ohaji/Egbema LGA to Omuma in Oru-East LGA.
Prof.Chukwuka, through his written address presented, described Governor Uzodimma as a lover of quality education by ensuring the completion of newly built institution’s multipurpose auditorium, which according to the Rector is a milestone in the development strides of the Polytechnic, even as he requested for more infrastructural development and support.
He hinted that no investment is greater than human capital development, but disclosed that the institution under his watch shall sustain quality education service delivery and it’s big nomenclature amongst comity of Polytechnic of Nigeria.
Continuing, the Imo Poly Rector, Prof. Stephen, more so, insisted that he shall expand the choice and learning horizon of students, management, with the assurances and support of the state government by pursuing massive accreditation of courses, as well as concluding arrangements for the introduction of new courses such as Fine Arts, Quantity Surveying, Architectural Technology among others.
The Rector, therefore assured the newly matriculated students of quality education but advised them to study harder, as he maintained that the management of the institution would never ever tolerant any form of cultism, indecent dressing, exam malpractice, indiscipline and other forms of social vices.
In the same vain, the Imo State Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodimma, ably represented by the State Education Commissioner, Prof.John-Cliff C. Nwadike, expressed delight for the academic breakthroughs so far recorded by the institution as he commended the matriculating students and the management of the Polytechnic.
“The Governor is happy with the current infrastructural development and academic upliftment of the school. On the construction of roads, the Governor has promised to ensure the completion of the roads linking your institution to the Owerri/Onitsha Express Way and to Owerri/Orlu Road;
“Be it known to you as students and staffers of the school that whatsoever due for your institution, the government of the day under Sen. Uzodimma shall get it done for your sake;
” The Governor has told me to inform you all that more lands shall be legally acquired for the construction of gigantic edifices that would encourage your studies. There shall be special intervention projects for the development of the school;
“More Tetfund projects are coming into your school. There shall be regular promotion of staffers”, Commissioner for Education submitted.
The Imo Edu.Commissioner furthermore in his words of admiration, described the students of Imo Polytechnic Omuma as “Shared Prosperity Children” who are very special to the government.
The Commissioner in his continuous statement of encouragement, advised the new intake (matriculants) to shun cultism, avoid bad behaviors and embrace their studies.
