Ahead of the IMO State Governorship poll in 2027, a youth group under there aegis of Orlu Youth consultative assembly has challenged the position of Sam Amadi on Zoning arrangements

SAM AMADI’S JABS & DELUSIONS
Sam Amadi, the Head of strategy of IMO Harmony Group, a pressure group championing the cause of Owerri Zone successor to Governor Hope Uzodinma come 2027, threw caution to the winds and deployed blackmail as a marketing strategy.
Apparently hiding under the fingers of an objective critic or could it be a self-appointed Advisor, he exhibited crass poor knowledge of the most civilized way of engagement by exposing delusions in the greatest grandeur.
In the last few months, we have witnessed a torrent of veiled threats from such other pressure groups like OZOPOLF, etc all within Owerri Zone, (ostensibly over heating the polity) on why the Governor must hand over to someone from Owerri Zone or the heavens will fall.
Such agitations aimed at pushing the ambition of people from Owerri zone are within their democratic rights just like every other zone.
However, we find the resort to arm-twisting and blackmailing the Governor very telling and unfortunate.
The three zones in Imo State have equal stake in who succeeds Governor Hope Uzodinma (an Orlu Son) in 2027 and any attempt by any pressure group from within the zones to blackmail or stampede the Governor into making precipitate decisions would be resisted.
In what was an obvious infantile tantrum, Sam Amadi, who propositions as the best public policy expert and technocrat in the entire universe, took the blackmail to the highest notch by obviously laying claim to being begged or nudged by Governor Hope Uzodinma to prepare to provide leadership in Imo state after his tenure.
What he seriously considered a solid invitation to treat, on critical analysis and processing, are at best, normal jibes any Governor can throw at any citizen of a state. His understanding of the Governor’s humour further explains the inner workings of his mind and his poor understanding of issues even when he prides himself as the best thing that happened to leadership.
We need not begin to recount or interrogate his tenure as the chief executive of National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). Talk is cheap.
Assuming but not conceding that such solicitation was really made, does that give rise to the deduction that the elusive transformative leader of his choice can only be found in Ngor-Okpala (his Local Government in Imo state).
What further underpins the myopism in his delusionary thinking, is the justification to hand over the trophy to an Ngor-Okpala person and the reasons he adduced for that.
According to Sam Amadi, since Ngor-Okpala, a local government out of 27 (twenty seven local governments in Imo State) has never produced a Governor, Senator or Minister, the torch of Charter of Equity, should be beamed to the local government. What a way to express transformative leadership instinct and attributes. Such shouldn’t be coming from a man who presents himself as a transformative leader. In view of the foregoing we state as follows:
1• Curiously, since Sam Amadi went public with his statement, no single leader from Owerri zone has deemed it fit to caution him for stampeding or bullying the Governor, which confirms a zonal mindset in dealing with issues of power sharing and balancing.
2• Are we dealing with issues of birth right or a common stake which every holder should be served with decent and cultured language? We dare say that Sam Amadi lacks the basic attributes of transformational leaders especially in his style of communication. We wonder how in his wildest imagination he could fit into that dream transformative leader that Imo State needs to turn around everything. Most ideologists in the mold of Sam Amadi are at best armchair theorists.
3• The irony is that Sam Amadi should be the least of persons to engage in such political dream given his unedifying shortfalls in political engagement.
4• Does he actually have that unassailable record and pedigree to be taken seriously in issues concerning head hunting for the so called transformative leader in Imo State.
5• Sam Amadi’s “lame duck” characterization of Governor Hope Uzodinma (whatever that means) could be likened to the vituperation of an uncultured headmaster, grandstanding before frightened pupils in a village school.
6• It is on record that Sam Amadi had happened on the political scene in Imo State with his bloated ego to apply for the job of a Governor, first under APGA and later, Labour Party.
He not only failed but left scars on Labour Party when he ‘tambuwaled’ Martin Agbaso. That dent on his political record would remain an albatross.
7•We call on all pressure groups and power agitators from Owerri zone to stop heating up the polity and allow Governor Hope Uzodinma the peace to deliver on his promises to the people of Imo State.
8• When the time comes and the chips are down, we will remind Owerri zone how they have consistently sabotaged any and every attempt to bring order to power sharing in Imo State. 9.What they did to Okigwe Zone in 2011 and Orlu Zone in 2023 clearly defines who they are when it comes to keeping faith. The high octave they have maintained in drumming support for the Charter of Equity is understandably to champion their parochial interest and narrow the political space for their zonal interest. Definitely not to promote Equity that nurtures altruism.
10• There are no moral high grounds in these agitations because the facts are there. We will at the appropriate time confront such groups as IMO Harmony Group, OZOPOLF and the rest, with hard facts on why no zone deserves a succession slot more than the other. The silence of Orlu zone shouldn’t be read as capitulation.
11• Equities would be addressed in the most transparent manner when the issue of who succeeds Governor Hope Uzodinma is properly placed on the table for discussion at the appropriate time. Definitely, Okigwe and Orlu Zones would have issues to table when the time comes. Until then, let us put a stop to all these distractive agitations and support Governor Hope Uzodinma to finish strong.
12• One thing that is certain is that you, Sam Amadi and your Imo Harmony Group or any other group cannot intimidate, coerce or stampede the highly performing Executive Governor of Imo State, an illustrious son of Igbo land and Orlu zone, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma into throwing the governorship seat to Owerri or any other zone in the name of Charter of Equity. Hope Uzodinma who from all indications, is on a divine project of reconstructing, rehabilitating and recovering Imo State is above intimidation and will do the right thing at the right time. It is the Almighty God that will guide him to that effect.
13• The Orlu Youth Consultative Assembly suggest you and your co-travelers should take it easy and accept the fact that Hope Uzodinma whom you claimed, is your long-time friend, has done well in governance.
