The Imo State Government through the office of the Commissioner of Health, Dr Prosper Success, on 30th September, 2022, flagged off the 2022 Scale of 3.0 Covid- 19 Vaccination.

The flagging off of the exercise which took place at the Imo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, had in attendance, representatives from different partners within and outside Owerri, Imo LGA workers executives and representatives.

Declaring the occasion open, the Commissioner affirmed that Governor of Imo State is determined to protect not only the property of Ndi Imo, but their lives as well. He went further to describe the Governor as the “most health friendly Governor”.

He encouraged all the health workers under the ministry, by commending and promising cash gift to the best LGA which will perform wonderfully during the exercise in their various localities.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Rev. Maria Joannes Uzoma, said Imo State has formally joined other states in the implementation of the noble health program, adding that Scales 3.0 strategy is an integrated program that included the routine immunization and other health services obtainable in primary health facilities.

She explained that the overall goal of Scales 3.0 is to combat Covid-19 Virus and also attend to those health needs bordering people as provided in the health centers.

She thanked the Governor for the effort the state has put in the fight against Covid -19 to keep Imo people in a healthy state. She specially lauded the country representatives, staff and management of MRITE Organization for sponsoring the program that saw to the flag off of Scales 3.0 in Imo State.

Addressing the people, a representative of the country, Director of Momentum Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity (MRITE), Dr. Yakubu Joel, Chairman, Imo State Immunization Advisor, Dr. Ugo Enebeli, explained that the USAID MRITE Project in Nigeria is supporting COVID-19 and Routine Immunizations in 5 States – Imo, Lagos, Jigawa, Edo and Bayelsa States. She said it was done to help scale up vaccinations in the country.

Other organizations who gave their goodwill messages included, WHO, UNICEF, Red Cross, USAID and AFENET.
