Ifedore LGA: The Elected Lawmaker is De-jure Megaphone, Trumpet and Beagle of Ifedore Constituency. – Temiloluwa Olujohungbe
Anything Ondo State, Ifedore Local Government Area and my home town in the news usually spark up my interest anytime any day and the events in Ifedore Local Government last weekend is not an exception, particularly that it gave us opportunity to have an insight into the mindset of particular individuals and communities.
There was a purpoted visitation to the Governor of the State, Hon. Ayedatiwa by some Monachs and Notable individuals from a fragment of the Local Government Area claiming to be representing the Ifedore Local Government interest as a whole without intimating or informing the Honourable Member Representing the Local Government Area at the Ondo State House Assembly. This to say the least is an aberration, deliberate and calculated effort to undermine the personality of the Honourable Representing the Local Government in person of Hon. (Barr.) Tope Komolafe.
Hon. (Barr.) Tope Komolafe swiftly responded to this anormally and put the record straight in his press release. The inescapable fact is that, Section 90 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as Amended provides that there shall be a House of Assembly for each of the States of the Federation. The simple implication of this is that, any elected Member of the State House of Assembly is the voice of his Constituency at the state level.
Also, I did not only read, but I carefully studied and digested the piece released by one Engr. Dr. Oladimeji Ojurayo in his despirate attempt to defend the aberation and launched a needless attack on the person and personality of the Honourable. Truth be told, the piece largely exhibit the mindset and motive behind the visit to Mr. Governor that it is simply to advance the cause of Ilara-Mokin their community at the expense of every other communities in the Local Government.
The visitation, evidently as posited by Dr.Ojurayo in his write up is laced with unbridled self centeredness and covertiousness on the part of a community at the expense of other communities. It must be stated, there is nothing wrong in a Monach and Elders of a community making a representation on behalf of their community, but not creating the impression that they are representing whole Local Government and the communities that were never informed of such visit. That is highly misleading.
Furthermore, in a situation where the Local Government has been fragmented into LCDAs, which will be administered by various Chairman of various LCDAs, the Local Government will still continue to be in the same state Constituency with one elected lawmaker as ther Megaphone at the state House of Assembly for all intents and purposes. Such a Representative should not be overreached by any single Community. I clearly note, the constant and repeated use of the pronoun “We” in the piece put together by Dr. Ojurayo as if the piece he generated and signed alone is representing the opinion of his community or he is actually acting together with some group of people who believed in their mind that the spirit and soul of Ifedore Local Government Area is the exclusive rights of a community alone.
I also studied and digested, the piece released by one Tunde Adebayo on the matter. Sincerely, I allign myself with reasoning and logic in that write up. It is expository and bare it all out. However, it is a matter of grave concern for me as an individual and possibly for anyone that share my thoughts on this, if the elected lawmaker of the Local Government at state level can be sidelined and schemed out by principal actors of such misrepresentation. It is hundred percent certain that the fate of my community Ibulesoro and our neighbour Ipogun will be highly inconsequential and never be of any concern to them at all.
I salute the temerity of the Honourable, Barr. Tope Komolafe in putting the record straight without much ado. It is crystal clear from this incident that he stands for equity, unity, peace, progress and development of his Constituency.
