Former staff members at Glow FM Akure have warned the management of the station against using derogatory words on them and trying to cover up the managerial issues at the station.

In a statement circulated on social media by some of the former employees of the station, they unanimously stated that their resignation was due to poor remuneration, unethical treatment and toxic work environment.

The statement warned the management of the radio station to stop tarnishing their image, if not, deeper secrets about the station will be revealed.

The statement:

“REPLY TO FALSE ACCUSATIONS FROM Glow 99.1 FM AKURE

*Setting the Record Straight: Our Resignation Was a Stand for Dignity, Not a Cover-Up*

We, the former staff of Glow FM 99.1, find it necessary to respond to the station’s misleading and defamatory press release regarding our collective resignation. Contrary to the falsehoods being peddled, we were neither forced to resign nor dismissed for any alleged misconduct. We chose to leave Glow FM as a matter of principle, unwilling to continue working under an administration plagued by poor management, inept leadership, and blatant disregard for the welfare of its workforce.

Glow FM’s statement is not only a desperate attempt to save face but also a deliberate smear campaign against professionals who dedicated their time, talent, and energy to building the station.

Why We Resigned

1. A Toxic Work Environment: Glow FM cultivated a culture of fear, intimidation, and disrespect toward its staff, especially its on-air personalities and off-air personnel. Talent was neither appreciated nor valued, but rather subjected to threats and humiliation.

2. Unethical Treatment of Employees: The management’s high-handedness, consistent disregard for due process, and arbitrary threats of termination created an unbearable work atmosphere. Employees were treated as expendable, with no regard for their well-being or professional dignity.

3. Lack of Proper Remuneration and Growth: Despite our dedication, we were subjected to poor wages, and no clear structure for career advancement. Promises made to staff were repeatedly broken, leading to frustration and disillusionment.

4. A Management in Denial: Instead of addressing these serious issues, Glow FM’s management has chosen to attack those who have rightfully decided to walk away from its toxic environment. Their allegations of corruption, theft, and professional misconduct are baseless, defamatory, and an insult to our collective integrity.

*We want to state unequivocally that none of us was laid off or sacked from our former stations before we joined Glow FM.*

A Warning Against Further Defamation

We will not sit back and allow Glow FM to tarnish our reputations to cover up its failures. Let it be clear: any further campaign of calumny against us will force our hands to reveal deeper secrets about the internal rot at Glow FM—secrets that are not good for the ears.

We challenge Glow FM’s management to present concrete evidence to support their reckless accusations. If they cannot, they must immediately cease their defamatory remarks and focus on fixing the problems within their station rather than engaging in baseless propaganda.

Final Word

We take pride in our professional records and the positive contributions we made during our time at Glow FM. Our decision to leave was not one of desperation but of conviction. We refuse to be part of a system that disrespects its workforce, stifles creativity, and disregards ethical practices.

The public deserves to know the truth, and we will not hesitate to reveal it if Glow FM continues its smear campaign against us. Our silence is not weakness—it is restraint. But if provoked further, we will speak, and we will speak loudly.”
