I am holier than you, Lizzy Anjorin slams Tope Alabi
Nollywood actress and businesswoman, Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal, has said she is “holier and more impactful” than gospel singer Tope Alabi, after the singer refused to perform at a surprise birthday party organised in her honour.
The drama started on Friday, April 4, 2025, when Lizzy’s fans, in collaboration with her husband, Lateef Lawal, invited Tope Alabi and her husband, Soji Alabi, to her store in Lagos for a surprise performance.
In a video circulating on social media, the Alabis arrived at the venue but walked out without singing, after finding out the occasion was a birthday celebration for the actress.
Also, in an Instagram video posted shortly after, Lizzy Anjorin said she had no intention of celebrating her birthday and blamed her fans for spending on an event she never approved.
“I don’t celebrate birthdays, only a wicked person would claim I do. I’m not in a position to judge their reaction, but if I had invited them myself, I wouldn’t have paid them anything,” she said.
She later released another video, where she directly called out Tope Alabi, questioning the singer’s moral stance and comparing their individual contributions to society.
“I am holier than you, Aunty mi Tope… I have done more good. I have added more value to the society than you,” Lizzy said.
“If you judge me, I am thankful that God does not judge me.”
Lizzy added that many people who benefitted from Tope Alabi only did so because they were close to her personally, not because she made a wide impact in the public space.
The gospel artiste, Tope Alabi, is yet to respond to the comments as of the time of filing this report. However, fans of both celebrities have continued to share divided opinions online.
While some believe Tope Alabi had a right to choose where and when she ministers, others criticised the singer for accepting the invitation only to decline on arrival.
