How N34million Road Completed Last Year by Governor Already Washing Off
The project, initially listed as a 5 km road in Umunneochi LGA, Abia State, was actually a 500-meter stretch constructed in Ugwamabiri, a village in the Obinolu community.
Tracka, BudgIt’s public expenditure tracking platform, has exposed significant discrepancies in the Ogwumabiri Road project funded with N34.7 million.
The project, initially listed as a 5 km road in Umunneochi LGA, Abia State, was actually a 500-meter stretch constructed in Ugwamabiri, a village in the Obinolu community.
Tracka in its official X handle said although the road was completed and asphalted early last year.
It also added that the road is already deteriorating.
“Despite the large sum allocated, the road is showing signs of poor quality and premature damage,” Tracka stated.
The platform has called on the Nigeria Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) to provide a detailed report on the project and to ensure the contractor returns to rectify the substandard work.
“However, we observed that the road was already washing off at the time of our visit”
