House Of Reps Announces Public Hearing To Investigate Alleged Misuse Of Govt Funds

The House of Representatives has announced an investigative public hearing into the alleged mismanagement of government interventions and agricultural funding by agencies operating outside the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
The probe follows the adoption of a motion titled: “The Alleged Misuse of Government Interventions and Agricultural Funding by Departments, Agencies, Schemes and Programmes Outside the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.”
The motion, debated on the floor of the House, was referred to the Committee on Nutrition and Food Security for further legislative action.
Scheduled for Tuesday at Conference Hall 028 in the House of Representatives New Building, National Assembly Complex, the hearing seeks to scrutinise the deployment and accountability of public funds meant for agricultural development.
The House aims to ensure that interventions designed to boost Nigeria’s agricultural sector are implemented transparently and effectively.
Stakeholders, including farmers’ groups, civil society organisations, and the media, are invited to participate in the session.
Rep. Chike John Okafor, Chairman of the Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, emphasised the House’s commitment to accountability, stating that the investigation aligns with the 10th Assembly’s dedication to good governance.
Members of the public, stakeholders in the agricultural sector, civil society organisations, and the media are invited to attend.
The statement was jointly signed by Rep. Chike John Okafor, Chairman of the House Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, and Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr., Spokesman of the House of Representatives.
