Hon. Wellington Adebawo Joins NEMSAS Officials in Onboarding Exercise, Inspection of Emergency Medical Facilities in Ondo State
With a view to enhancing emergency response capabilities in Ondo State, onboarding exercise of the Ondo State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System was held on Tuesday March 18, as Hon. (Prince) Wellington Oriade Adebawo, Special Assistant to the Governor on Emergency Response, played a key role in the exercise, which was facilitated by officials from National Emergency Medical Sercvice And Ambulance System, Abuja (NEMSAS).
The onboarding exercise began with a brainstorming session at the Ministry of Health in Akure, where stakeholders discussed strategies for improving emergency response in the state. Hon. Adebawo, who has been instrumental in driving the state’s emergency response efforts, was in attendance alongside officials from the Ondo State Emergency Medical Services Agency (ODEMSA).
Following the brainstorming session, the team inspected the emergency facilities at the ODESMA call centre and the Teaching Hospital of University Medical Sciences, Laje, Ondo. The facility, which is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, is a critical component of the state’s emergency response infrastructure.
The team also visited the sub-station of ODEMSA at Bolorundoro, Ondo East, where they assessed the agency’s preparedness to respond to emergencies. Hon. Adebawo, who has been working tirelessly to ensure that ODEMSA lives up to its mandate, expressed satisfaction with the agency’s progress .
Hon. Adebawo said that the onboarding exercise is part of the efforts to revitalize emergency response systems in the state, stressing that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has been working to improve the state’s emergency response capabilities, and the participation of major stakeholders in the exercise is a testament to the government’s commitment to this goal.
