Gunmen invade Community, kidnap ten Residents, demand N50 million ransom
Bandits have raided Moriki community in Zamfara State has been raided by bandits on Wednesday night.
The bandits invasion on the community led to the abduction of over 10 locals and demand of N50 million ransom.
The Police spokesman in Zamfara, ASP Yazid Abubakar had confirmed the incident and assured that the Commissioner of Police had directed the operatives to swing into action and rescue the victims.
A resident of Moriki community while speaking with the BBC Hausa Service on Thursday, disclosed that the bandits were disturbing the community and had earlier kidnapped other locals in the community.
He said: ” The bandits claimed that their cows were killed by the Commander in the community.
“They attacked the community and went from house to house picking our people,and gave today as the deadline for us to pay the N50 million.”
” Not long ago, they collected N20 million from community members to allow the locals access their farms. The community is not secured at all.”
He added that any time the bandits needed money, they will attack the community to abduct people and keep them in captivity until they paid the ransom.
