Gunmen kill two Customs officers, one other in Kebbi attack
The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two Customs officers and one civilian by suspected Lakurawa gunmen in an attack on Tuesday at the Bachaka border in Argungu Local Government.
Speaking on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, stated that while the Customs Service has multiple units and commands, the specific command of the slain officers remains unclear.
“Yes, there was an attack, and it resulted in the killing of two yet-to-be-identified Customs officers and one native of Bachaka village,” he said.
Following the attack, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, visited the scene and assured that such attacks would not deter security forces.
“These sporadic assaults are signs of desperation from weakened criminal elements who are facing sustained military and law enforcement operations aimed at eliminating them,” he said.
This latest attack on security personnel and civilians comes just 24 hours after combined security forces neutralized two suspected Lakurawa in the state.
Efforts to get the Kebbi Custom Command’s reaction were unsuccessful, as the command’s spokesman could not be reached at the time of filing this report.
