Governor’s Aide, Oriade Adebawo Rescue Residents as Fire Raze House in Akure
A storey building located in the High School area of Akure, Ondo State, was engulfed in a fierce fire on Wednesday November 27, causing widespread destruction and panic among residents.
The fire, which started in the evening, quickly spread throughout the building, fueled by strong winds and the largely wooden structure of the building, as the scene as chaotic, with people rushing to evacuate the building and surrounding areas.
One of the eyewitnesses said, “I was asleep when I heard people shouting and screaming, I woke up and rushed outside to see the building engulfed in flames. It was a terrifying sight.”
The Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Emergency Response, Hon. (Prince) Wellington Oriade Adebawo, responded promptly to the emergency, leading a team of firefighters from the Federal Fire Service to the scene.
Upon arrival, Hon. Adebawo quickly assessed the situation and coordinated the efforts of the firefighters to bring the fire under control. Though the affected building was ravaged heavily by the fire but the firemen were able to prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings.
Hon. Adebawo commended the bravery and professionalism of the firefighters, who risked their lives to save others. He also praised the residents of the area for their cooperation and support during the emergency response efforts.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but Hon. Adebawo assured that an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The prompt response of Hon. Adebawo and the firefighters helped to prevent loss of life.
