Governor reshuffle cabinet, creates additional ministry
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Tuesday, announced a major reshuffle of his cabinet with several commissioners affected.
The development came after he swore in five new commissioners in the state.
The governor also announced the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development, Veterinary Services and Fisheries.
Among those affected in the cabinet shake-up was the former Commissioner for Information and Communication, Musa Ashoms, who was moved to the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development.
The news of the cabinet reshuffle and creation of a new ministry was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Samuel Jatau.
“The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has introduced two policy shifts as part of the innovation to accelerate governance and enhance development in the state.
“Consequently, the Ministry of Education (Higher and Secondary) has been merged into a single ministry. Similarly, a new ministry to be known as Livestock Development, Veterinary Services and Fisheries, has been created,” the statement read.
According to the statement, Joyce Ramnap, a former Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly, is to oversee the Ministry of Information and Communication.
Joshua Ubandoma, former Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, has been reassigned as the Commissioner for Works, while the Commissioner for Health, Dr Shurkuk Cletus Bako, was moved to the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Philemon A. Daffi was named Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General; Peter L. Gwom, Environment, Climate Change and Mineral Development; Adams Bulus Lekshak – Budget and Economic Planning; Peter Nyam Gai – Lands, Survey and Town Planning; Jatau Davou Gyang – Transport; Bugama Samson – Agriculture; Ephraim Usman – Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Caroline Pangland – Women Affairs; Dongkum Grace Shwarta – Finance and Dr (Mrs) Kachollom Pyam Gang – Education.
Also, Nyalum M. Salisu was named Commissioner for Commerce and Energy; Dr Sunday Akpa- Livestock Development, Veterinary Services and Fisheries; Bashir Lawandi – Water Resources and Energy; Sylvanus Dongtoe – Housing and Urban Development; Dr Nicholas Ba’amlong – Health and Cornelius Doeyok as Commissioner for Tourism, Culture and Hospitality.
The statement urged the affected commissioners to conclude handing over on or before Friday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the governor had sworn in Sunday Akpan (Bassa LGA), Joyce Ramnap (Langtang South), Sylvanus Dongtoe (Shendam), Dr Nicholas Baamlong (Qua’an Pan), and Cornelius Doeyok (Qua’an Pan) as commissioners.
