Governor Okpebholo Suspends All Consultancy Services, Reviews Financial Transactions
The decision, according to the statement, means that all financial transactions and related services with affected consultants and service providers are to be put on hold immediately.
The Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the immediate suspension of all consultancy services and related providers within the state’s public service.
The directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.
The decision, according to the statement, means that all financial transactions and related services with affected consultants and service providers are to be put on hold immediately.
Ikhilor said this is pending when the Review Committee established by the governor submits its report.
“All Accounting Officers, Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies are expected to take note and comply strictly with this directive,” Ikhilor said.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement on Monday, the Edo State Government expressed concerns over the continued collection of revenue by unlicensed agents and touts operating without government authorisation.
The government reiterated that the suspension of all non-commissioned revenue collectors remains in effect.
According to the statement, only statutory and licensed officials are permitted to collect revenue on its behalf, particularly in motor parks and other areas of commercial activity.
The statement urged the public to report any unlicensed agents to the police, warning that violators would face arrest and prosecution.
“These miscreants, their sponsors, and agents are advised not to challenge the government’s resolve to protect the lives and property of Edo State residents,” the statement added.
