Governor makes new appointments
Kano gov appoints Accountant-General, others, revives transport agency
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has announced key appointments and reassignments to improve governance and public service delivery in the state.
In a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesman, Sanusi Tofa, the appointments include Jamila Abdullahi as the Accountant General of Kano State and Muhammad Yahaya Liman as the Director of Treasury.
Abdullahi, a seasoned accountant with over 16 years of experience, was previously the Director of Treasury at the Kano State Ministry of Finance.
Liman, also a financial expert with a strong banking background, is expected to enhance the state’s treasury operations.
Other appointments include Akibu Murtala as the Special Adviser on Administration in the Governor’s Office and Abubakar Sadiq as the Deputy Managing Director of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency.
The governor also announced the revival of the Kano State Transport Authority, popularly known as Kano Line.
A committee led by Sa’idu Shu’aibu has been tasked with overseeing the review and operations of the transport agency.
“The committee will oversee the review and management of Kano Line’s operations over the next six months to ensure its efficiency, sustainability, and alignment with the state’s development goals,” the statement read.
Yusuf congratulated the new appointees, urging them to focus on accountability and innovation to advance the state’s development goals.
“He urged them to work tirelessly to contribute to the collective progress of Kano State, ensuring that the administration’s vision for improved governance and service delivery is realized.
These appointments and initiatives demonstrate the administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering development, enhancing public service, and positioning Kano State as a model of effective governance,” the statement concluded.
