Governor Inaugurates Advisory Committee on ₦70,000 Minimum Wage
The committee will deliver a practical plan for immediate implementation.
Following the approval of a new national minimum wage by President Bola Tinubu, the Kano State Advisory Committee on the new national minimum wage has been inaugurated to strategise the rollout of the ₦70,000 as agreed with organised labour.
The inauguration ceremony, conducted by the Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, on behalf of the Kano State Governor, emphasised the committee’s responsibility to deliver a practical plan for immediate implementation.
“The welfare of workers is a top priority for our administration. We are confident that the implementation of the new minimum wage will enhance the development of Kano State across all sectors,” stated Gwarzo.
He further assured the workers of Kano State of the government’s commitment to their well-being. “We understand the importance of a fair wage in improving the quality of life for our workers and their families. This new wage will not only uplift individual livelihoods but will also contribute significantly to the economic growth of our state.”
The committee, chaired by Alh. Usman Muhammad, Special Adviser to the Governor on State Affairs and a former Head of the Kano State Civil Service, has been given three weeks to submit its recommendations. The members of the committee include prominent state officials and representatives from various sectors:

– Alh. Musa Suleman Shanono, Hon. Commissioner of Planning and Budget

– Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu
– Salahudeen Habib Isa
– Ibrahim I. Boyi
– Ibrahim Muhammad Kabara
– Mustapha Nuraddeen Muhammad
– Abdulkadir Abdussalam
– Umar Muhammad Jalo
– Hassan Salisu Kofar Mata
– Yahaya Umar
Alh. Usman Bala Muhammad expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in the committee. “We are dedicated to formulating a plan that is both effective and sustainable. Our goal is to ensure that the new minimum wage benefits all workers and supports the broader objectives of the state government.”
