Governor gives council appointment to Opposition party state Chairman
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of the Oyo State Accord party chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo, as the Secretary to the Saki West Local Government Area of the state.
Ojo said he has also been appointed as the sole head administrator of Asabari Local Council Development Area.
In response to his appointment, in a statement he personally signed on Saturday, Ojo expressed his gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his promise of running an inclusive government that embraces members of different political parties.
He commended the governor for his leadership style, which values loyalty and dedication and rewards them.
Additionally, he acknowledged a former House of Representatives member, Shina Peller, for his noteworthy roles in facilitating the coalition and inclusiveness of many Accord party members in Makinde’s government.
Similarly, other former party members have also been appointed to key positions across different local government areas in the state.
The appointments have generated a lot of buzz in the political scene in the state, with many commending the move and describing it as a strategic way of recognizing and rewarding those who supported his re-election bid in the 2023 general election.
Recall that before the 2023 general election, notable party chieftains such as Peller, Honourable Adebukola Ajaja, and Prince Kolade Felix led a coalition of party members to join forces with the Peoples Democratic Party in support of Makinde’s re-election bid.
Their decision was based on the governor’s impressive performance in his first term and the desire for the continuity of development initiatives in the state.
