Governor distributes beds, mattresses ahead of mass wedding for 300 couples
The Kebbi State Government, in collaboration with the NANAS Foundation, has commenced the distribution of essential wedding materials to beneficiaries of the mass wedding scheduled for February 27, 2025, at the Emir of Gwandu’s palace.
The mass wedding, tagged “Auren Gata,” is an initiative of the state governor, Dr. Nasir Idris.
It aims to support 300 couples drawn from various parts of the state.
The initiative is being coordinated by the state government and the NANAS Foundation, and it is a pet project of the governor’s wife, Nafisa Nasir Idris.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, emphasised that this year’s event would surpass last year’s in terms of organisation and support.
He noted that the early receipt of wedding materials enabled a prompt commencement of the distribution.
“The Kebbi State Government and NANAS Foundation have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to this initiative. We urge them to sustain the momentum for the benefit of all,” the commissioner stated.
Also addressing the gathering, the Secretary of the Transportation Committee and Acting Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Alaramma, described the mass wedding as a significant blessing to the state and society.
“We have begun distributing wedding materials, which include beds, mattresses, chairs, and wedding gowns for both male and female beneficiaries,” he revealed.
A former Head of Service and member of the transport committee, Safiyanu Garba-Bena, recalled that a similar initiative was successfully held last year.
He advised the beneficiaries to utilise the provided materials responsibly to ensure a smooth and fulfilling marital life.
