Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, on Monday, unveiled a N5bn women empowerment initiative to boost micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises across the state.

The governor announced this during the launch of a grand distribution ceremony for 7,000 women from the North West region, held at the Local Government Service Commission Conference Hall in Katsina.

Among others, the event showcased a collaborative effort among the National Assembly members’ spouse forum, Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa, and AT&T Green Energy Solution.

“Empowering our women is crucial for building resilient families and a stronger economy,” Radda stated.

While commending the initiative, which provided N30,000 grants to 1,000 women from Katsina State, the governor urged wives of state assembly members and local government chairmen to initiate similar programmes in their constituencies.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Hadiza Abubakar Yar’Adua, lauded the ministry’s commitment to implementing the N5bn programme, stressing its focus on verified women entrepreneurs operating small and medium-scale businesses.

The national coordinator of the forum, Hajiya Yasmin Muazu, disclosed that “The current initiative benefitted 7,000 women across the 186 local government areas in the North-West region, demonstrating a broader regional family welfare and community development.”
