Government promotes 20,542 teachers, non-teaching staff

The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has approved the promotion of 20,542 primary and junior secondary school teachers as well as non-teaching staff for the 2023 and 2024 sessions.

The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Yusuf Kabir, announced this during a meeting with education secretaries, heads of personnel and EMIS officers held at SBMC Hall SUBEB headquarters in Kano on Monday.

This was contained in a statement by Deputy Director Public Relations, Balarabe Jazuli and issued to newsmen on Tuesday.

Yusuf directed the implementation of the promotion to the concerned staff with immediate effect to boost their morale.

“The governor directed the board to implement the promotion immediately in order to ensure that they are paid immediately,” the SD statement said.

The SUBEB chairman urged the beneficiaries to rededicate themselves to their duties and expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for prioritising education in the state.

He appealed to community leaders, Islamic clerics, and related organizations to sensitize parents on the importance of enrolling their children in school

Education secretaries who attended the meeting praised Yusuf for his commitment to education, citing the distribution of learning materials, construction and renovation of classrooms, and training for teachers.
