GOV UZODINMA’S AIDE PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO POLYNEK RECTOR
Special Adviser to Gov Hope Uzodinma on Social Media Influence, Chief Paschal Okechukwu (popularly known as Cubana chief priest) earlier today paid a courtesy visit to the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr Dr Michael Arimanwa FNSE to identify with the institution which is reputed for being a bastion of academic excellence and technological innovations.
In his speech, the Special Adviser described Nekede as home because he had lived there while pursuing higher education. He also used the opportunity to intimate the Rector with his programme for Imo youths which includes empowering over 2700 Imo youths with smart phones.
According to the governor’s aide, the digital gadgets would enable the youths leverage on the benefits of the social media to better their lives. The visitor also informed the Rector that his office would be hosting a Valentine Concert for Imo youths, while urging students to enroll in their local government associations in order to access the largess in the offing.
In his remarks, the Rector commended the Special Adviser on the initiative of leveraging on the digital technology to better the lives of youths. The Poly Chief Executive likened the gesture to his administration’s Smart Campus Initiative which has revolutionized and automated the activities of the institution.
The smart Rector, as he is fondly called, also informed the visiting official that his institution has retained the enviable status of best-performing polytechnic in Nigeria, a feat that has remained unchallenged.
Meanwhile, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede has lauded the governor of Imo State for his thoughtfulness in creating an office on social media influence.
According to him, such an office would be instrumental in harnessing the immense energy of the youth into productive ventures, adding that the office would assist the governor in formulating appropriate policies on youths in relation to the social media.
The Rector, therefore, charged the governor’s aide to use his massive social media influence to champion a good cause for the youths.
