According to reports, a 15-year-old girl in India devised a strange method of confessing her love to her HIV-positive boyfriend: she injected himself with his blood.

The things we will do for love, ah… are occasionally quite hazardous and dumb. Consider the strange tale of a teenage girl from India’s Assam state who allegedly opted to inject herself with her boyfriend’s blood to prove how much she loved him despite knowing full well that he was HIV-positive. The 15-year-family old’s was not the only ones who were astonished to learn about this odd display of affection; throughout the past week, articles about it have gone viral on social media.

The unidentified girl is said to be from Suwal Kuchchi, a village in Assam, India. She and her boyfriend first connected on Facebook and had been dating for about three years. The town of Hajo’s HIV-positive youth had attempted to runaway with his love a few times in the past, but the girl’s parents had found them and brought her back.

This time, the 15-year-old chose a more drastic method of expressing her love for her partner rather than fleeing with him. She is accused of using a syringe to inject herself with his HIV-positive blood while being aware of the dangers she was putting herself in. It’s not known if the youngster was aware of her plans, but it’s difficult to think of another way in which she managed to obtain a syringe containing his blood.

Police in Hajo has already detained the girl’s boyfriend, and her parents have filed a complaint against him. As for the girl, she is currently being monitored by doctors, but she will most likely have to take medication for the rest of her life to keep the HIV virus from destroying her immune system.

I guess it’s true what they say, love is indeed blind…
