Full Details of PDP Governors meeting in Jos
The governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reaffirmed their resolve to revive the party and restore Nigerians’ confidence in its leadership.
This declaration was made during a gathering of the PDP Governors’ Forum, which took place in Jos, hosted by Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, on Friday night.
Governor Mutfwang welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude for their support, stressing the importance of coming together to discuss how the party can regain stability and strengthen its presence in Nigeria.
He acknowledged the historical role of Plateau State in the PDP’s development, particularly revealing its role as the venue for the first convention that elected the President of the Fourth Republic.
Governor Mutfwang also emphasized the Plateau people’s renewed support for the PDP after years of opposition leadership, promising to work towards improving the lives of citizens and upholding the party’s core values of social justice and empowerment.
Bauchi State Governor and Forum Chairman, Senator Bala Mohammed, also addressed the gathering, recognizing the PDP’s strength and unity.
He reassured party members of the PDP’s unwavering commitment to providing Nigerians with good governance, despite any internal challenges.
His words: “We are here on the Plateau, and Governor Mutfwang has shown us that Plateau is indeed a melting pot where everyone is welcome. The PDP remains an indivisible party. Despite minor hiccups, we are united with all organs and leaders of the party. We will continue to work together to provide Nigerians with opportunities for better governance.”
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, added that the governors were united in their efforts to reform the party and restore its leadership role in Nigerian politics.
Other notable figures at the meeting included Governors Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, Kefas Agbu of Taraba, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, as well as the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Illiya Damagum.
This meeting comes just before the PDP’s 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) session, which had been set for November 28 but was postponed indefinitely.
The NEC is expected to address key issues regarding the party’s future, including the position of acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Ilyas Damagum.
