The governors, who arrived in Ibadan on Sunday, were hosted to a state banquet by the host Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.

The governors in attendance are Bala Muhammed of Bauchi who is the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum; Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State; Ahmadu Umar Fintiri of Adamawa State; Agbu Kefas of Taraba; Dauda Lawal of Zamfara; Peter Mbah of Enugu; Ademola Adeleke of Osun.

The suspended Governor of Rivers, Sim Fubara was however absent at the meeting even as Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori did not also show up at the meeting.

The governors are expected to discuss the issues surrounding the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State ahead of the Supreme Court hearing of their case.

Also, the planned coalition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) being championed by some opposition members including PDP leaders would also form part of the discussion.

Makinde said last night that the PDP Governors’ Forum meeting “is necessary at this time to deliberate on the way forward for PDP as we reposition the party as the best option for Nigerians in 2027.”
