Supporters of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lamba ward of Wase local government area in Plateau state burned party billboards and palliatives on Wednesday, protesting what they described as “meager Ramadan palliatives” distributed to their members.

The supporters, who took to streets chanting “we don’t want “ take the palliative to the chairman “ among other slogans were seen destroying posters, billboards and burning them on the road.

They also burnt the palliative distributed to them by the party.

Our correspondent gathered the protesters accused the chairman of the LGA of denying what was meant for the party members in the area, threatening to disown the party in 2027 elections.

According to some of the members who gathered at the party office in the ward, the chairman sent nine bags of six measures of rice and nine bags of six measures of maize to an electoral ward with thousands of party supporters.

Haladu Mus , a member of the party, while expressing his frustration said, “Look at the small amount of grains they brought to us as party members. Two measures of rice and one measure of maize for Ja’oji polling unit. The same thing was given to Runji polling unit for the Ramadan.”

Another party member, Dayyabu Ibrahim, lamented that the palliative was nothing to write home about, and therefore, the local party leaders would surely pay for it, adding that “by God’s grace, they will see in the next election. “

All efforts to get the reaction of the chairman of Wase, Hamisu Amani, were unsuccessful as several calls made to him didn’t go through and an SMS sent to him was not responded as at press time.
